[ Truly! The door swings open silently, and there Kisa is, peeking out from behind it nervously-- until she recognizes Minato and the nerves turn to confusion. She does step out a little more, at least. ]
I thought having something familiar might help with adjusting with this place. I know I was really missing rice for a long time after we first got here.
[ it's definitely more fun and Kisa scurries into action, setting the food on the table, hunting down plates and mismatched utensils, pulling out a chair for Minato.
Minato thinks he might understand, a little, where this is coming from. Quietly, he moves to put some of the rice and fish on his own plate, rather than put her on the spot or stare at her. And as he does:]
... It's been a lot to get used to, right...? Being in a place like this.
She doesn't have any of her family here. She doesn't have Tohru. And people have been kind, but Kisa is completely out of her element and with Minato's consideration, this is the first taste of home she's had since she showed up here.
It's why she keeps eating slowly, even as tears continue to roll down her face. ]
[There's not a lot he can really say to that, really... he doesn't want to point it out, and she's eating, so... he figures he should let her be, at least for now. It's heartbreaking to watch a child cry, of course, and it's so, so sad that she was dragged into a situation like this... but if he can help, even just in small ways like this, it's just all the more important he does what he can.
So... he does eventually murmur a soft:]
Thanks for eating this with me, Kisa-chan. Maybe we can do it again sometime...?
[ ... Oh. Well, it's for the best that Minato isn't too dismayed at her crying over this meal, or offended, but it still takes Kisa a minute to register that he is neither of those things. That, in fact, he does want to do this again.
So after a minute, Kisa nods, a tad bewildered by just how nice Minato is. But sure. She'd like to do this again.
This... definitely feels warm and familiar, like home, and she's selfish enough to want to grasp at that feeling as much as she can. ]
[ She will! Just that initial burst of emotion, and she's good to go.
But she's also finishing everything, which says a lot-- she can be a picky eater, but Minato clearly found the right thing. Once she's finished, she's politely bowing her head.
action;
KNOCK KNOCK.
Wow thank god this happens to happen when Sierra is out and about somehow! How convenient!]

Hey, Kisa-chan.
[What's up.]
Have you had lunch yet?

[Tah-dahhhh.]
I wasn't sure what you're used to eating back home, but sometimes it helps to have something familiar.
[He's making some assumptions here, but Kisa didn't seem at all confused by his honorifics. That's his scale these days.]

[ That's definite recognition now, and she looks from the food up to Minato, and then down to the food and up to Minato again.
Really? This is for her?? ]

[He knows that look.]

Does he want to join her for lunch? ]
no subject
Sure, if you want me to. It can be a lot more fun to eat together, it's true.

She may be excited. ]

You'll have to try it first and let me know what you think, okay?
no subject
Of course, there's silence as she chews and swallows.
... Except then there's a... sniffle? ]

Though, well...

Mm... I won't stay too long. [No need to overstay his welcome, time to start cleaning up!]
But you can always tell me, too, if you're ever missing the sort of meals you're used to.
I'm always happy to make them.

Maybe when she gets a little braver, she'll be able to tell him herself. For now... this is enough. ]
