[ She's honestly not sure what's been the worst so far, with the adventures she's had: being shrunken down to the size of a toy in a soldier's outfit, or... this... gauzy... embarrassing thing. It's pretty, she supposes, but not very warm.
She's not sure how Sierra's going to feel about the house warping into a palace, but at the moment, she's got bigger concerns to worry about, yelping as the wizened puppet tugs the lamp (where had that come from anyway) out of her grip. ]
Damian--!
[ SHE IS... VERY CONFUSED. She's been confused for awhile now, but here she is, very much baffled now. ]
[If anyone thinks Damian being several stories up will scare and deter him from getting to the floor, they're wrong. He plants his feet solidly and flatly against the wall below the window, and leans himself back and--yeah, he falling slides from window to floor, bracing himself for a tuck and roll at the end so he doesn't bust something landing stiff.
Even with the mild reverberations, he leaps quickly to his feet and brings his arms up.] Run away! [He beckons, trying to think of what to do now that sorcerer is already rubbing the lamp. He glances down at the ring on his finger. Alright. It's fine.
[Him? It? The thing is a puppet without a face, saying nothing. What comes out of the lamp? Practically the same thing really. A genie puppet.] Get over here! [He claps his hands together and holds them there.
Honestly, the only thing the sorcerer seems to be after is causing trouble. Stealing the "palace" by moving it. That is, stealing it right out from beneath them. Everything is gone very suddenly. Poof. They're left hovering a handful of feet above the snow and the ground. It's cold. Freezing.
Damian yelps as gravity snatches him, and he plummets down into a mound of snow bellow.]
[ Kisa at least does her best to not actually land on Damian this time, which is more gravity's doing than her own-- but she lands right beside him with a quieter yelp of her own, and thankfully, there's snow to cushion her fall. Going from midstep to Damian to here...
... It's kind of overwhelming, so she says nothing at first, until she can sit up and make sure nothing's broken or sprained. ]
[Quickly, irritably, Damian sits straight up in the hole of the snow and grunts. Small piles of it sit on top of his head and his shoulders, but he glares ahead of himself without brushing any of it off.]
Dammit. [This fairytale puppet sorcerer is a pain in his ass.] I'm fine. [He glances over at her.]
We have to get our palace back. [Wait--] Your house. [He glances "up" even if there's no way to see what's piled on his head. He quickly helps her finish dusting it off as if he thinks she shouldn't have to bother with anything like that.] Aladdin.
[Nevermind they're married. He doesn't think bringing it up right now is important. Hell, pointing it out is embarrassing enough.] Easy. We're in a fairytale. That means we win with guile. [He raises his hand and flashes the golden, flat-topped and engraved ring on his finger.] Two can play at the jinn game.
[Briskly, he rubs his palms together. Time to summon another weird, puppet-like genie. A lesser one, but a genie no less. Damian at least stands up respectfully--or maybe "master" like? Listen.] Take us to the sorcerer! [Oh. Wait.
He turns and reaches out, offering Kisa his other hand.] No one takes a Wayne's dominion and gets away with it.
[ Leave it to Damian to just... roll with it, like that. Like he was born to play this role and come out on top. Kisa could be impressed-- and indeed, she looks admiring as she reaches out to take his hand. But-- ]
Tt. [Carefully, he pulls her up out of the snow.] I beg to differ currently. I married the sultan's daughter. [He's not sure if it'll take both of them simply by hand holding, so he... loops an arm around her under her arms.] The lamp's genie built us a palace. That was my palace.
And I'll be damned if I'm going to let some fourth-rate sorcerer steal it.
[Luckily, there's not really any long-distance travel being stuck here, but the lesser ring genie does move them from their location to inside the palace (presumably at a different area, but space-time shenanigans).
He quickly drops the two of them into a crouch when they get there, glad they're hidden behind some of the architecture. He also lets go of her. Small blessings.] Alright. Do you know how the story of Aladdin goes? The actual story. [Thanks, DISNEY.]
[ Well, she'll be honest here. It wasn't one of the stories she grew up with. And thankfully, they're in a serious(????) situation, so Kisa doesn't have to worry about feeling flustered about being married or proximity or physical contact, except for a gentle attempt to make sure there's enough distance between them that she won't transform.
For now, she rests a hand on the ivory pillar they're hidden behind, peeking out cautiously. ]
[Just push him over and away, Kisa, it's fine. He deserves all of it.] Yes. The sorcerer isn't going to utilize it for anything good, especially if it pertains to himself. [But... Yeah. Ye old stories.]
...You're going to have to use your-- [He realizes, suddenly, he doesn't know how to put this without sounding insensitive or embarrassed.] --your... feminine wiles. To distract him while I get the lamp and kill him.
[Quickly, he reaches out and presses his palm over her mouth when she's almost finished talking.] Shh. [He doesn't care about being spotted himself. He just doesn't want Kisa to be in trouble when this is technically his fairytale.]
You can do it. [He lowers his hand.] You have to do it. It doesn't have to be anything vulgar. Just talk to him as if you've changed your mind about me. About being a wife. Pretend you'll join him.
[ This sounds like a terrible idea and Kisa stares at him uncertainly, eyes large and anxious. There's so many things that could go wrong here. She could blurt out something incriminating. She could accidentally give Damian away. The puppet might not be fooled at all. She's not sure what happens if she fails, but it's probably not good. ]
We... have to get closer to him first, right?
[ Kisa absolutely hates this, but she hangs her head with a sigh, shoulders slumped in resigned acceptance. ]
You don't have to get very close. Just enough to talk. [Her mood is sour, and he doesn't blame her, but he also can't think of any other way that would be following the stupid story.
He frowns and turns away to glance around the pillar.] You'll always be in my line of sight. And you'll be able to see me, but you can't look directly at me. I'm aware these things don't have "eyes" or even a face, but we can't take chances. As soon as you begin to speak, I'll go.
[He looks back at her, still frowning some.] Kisa. [His stare is intense but not hard.] I believe in you.
[ Kisa takes a deep, steadying breath, meeting his eyes and finally nodding. She doesn't say anything, just quietly grateful that she'd found her voice some time long before this had to happen.
Okay, she tells herself, straightening up and walking out of her hiding spot. This... is doable. Don't act like Rin, that won't work. Just pretend that the puppet is Tohru. Pretend that they're someone important that you want to be close to, because they make you feel safe.
Once the sorcerer puppet spots her, Kisa lets her eyes lower demurely, a flush (of nervousness) on her cheeks as she reaches out to bashfully tug on the puppet's sleeve and then takes a shy step back. ]
Um... a lot's happened, and I've realized... I don't belong anywhere else, but by your side. I... don't need anyone else but you. Especially not someone so... [ uh. ] ... Rough. Who doesn't show his feelings.
[The only waiting Damian does is for Kisa to get out and to the puppet. As soon as it's distracted, he zips out from behind the pillar like a shadow. He's terribly silent and terribly quick.
But he does have to wonder at the next pillar if she really means what she's saying. It doesn't surprise him so much as... Well, he realizes the truth in it. Dragged. Rough. Doesn't show his feelings.
Nevermind, he can't think about that right now.
Again, he moves out and around. He can snatch the lamp easily. Getting rid of the sorcerer is another issue. Killing is what he's got to do, but killing... Would destroying a puppet be breaking his father's code? Carefully, quietly, he pulls one of the curved scimitars from the wall. The weight in his hand is second nature.
When he comes creeping out behind, he raises a finger to his lips so she won't give him away. First thing, he has to get rid of the sorcerer before anything happens to Kisa. The only problem is how fast and fluidly it happens: ramming the sword up through the back and out of the front of the puppet isn't as gruesome as it would normally be, but one second is there, the next it's gone, and Damian lets go. He doubles back to grab the lamp; races around the dying, disappearing sorcerer and grabs Kisa by the hand.] Hurry! Let's go. [To use the lamp, he means, but...
...the palace begins to change and twist beneath and around them. He freezes. The lamp and the ring vanish. Their clothes unfurl back into what they had on before (thank God). The beautiful, elegant, wide-open palace interior shrinks, becomes stone and wood again. And then it drops, almost as if it's landing. The floor leaves their feet briefly before it stops, and they tumble down again to land in a pile in the middle of Kisa and Sierra's once again house.]
[ Kisa's lucky enough that her tiger instincts kick in long enough to let her actually land on her feet this time instead of on top of or underneath Damian (again). It lasts only a few seconds, though, before she wobbles and sinks down onto the floor, heaving a sigh that feels like it weighs more than she does.
There's no more palace. So... ]
That... means we did it, right?
[ Back to their normal clothing, the familiar sight of her house around her, no random creepy puppets... ]
[This time, Damian manages to also land on his feet. He may not turn into a tiger, but he does act an awful lot like a cat.] I assume as much. I'm hoping it stays this way.
Forever.
[He relaxes, too, glancing over at her afterward. To hell with it. He sits down on the floor. And he's quiet for a few minutes, but manages:] You... did well. [And, like, saying his feelings and stuff!!!]
[The face Damian makes is a weird cross between "gross, feel good shit" and a little embarrassed pride. He keeps his head turns mostly away, weight leaned back on his palms behind him.]
You could have done it easily even without me believing in you.
